Born in Greensboro, NC, I grew up in McLeansville, NC and was brought up in a Christian home attending Church every Sunday. I was introduced early to Southern Gospel Music attending all night singings and going to many activities which took place locally. With a musical background in Church and High School, I participated with many different aspects of music.
As a teenager though, I grew away from the Church and followed a different route. I began early in Rock & Roll and then moved somehow into the Country Music field looking for that something which I never seemed to be able to find. Then one Sunday in a little home Church, I came to realize the thing missing in my life was Christ. I rededicated my life there, had a life changing experience, and began to live my life for Christ. I know now that only by the Grace of God I came through many situations because Christ had a plan for my life.
In 1999, with the support of my loving wife, we started Journey ‘N Faith and the Lord has blessed our ministry in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I live my life now for Jesus Christ, and work using my Gifts spreading the Love of Christ through-out the world through song and winning lost souls to Him.
I was saved and baptized when I was eleven years old. Raised in an alcoholic home, fortunately I had a Christian grandmother who shared the gospel with me. She went to be with the Lord in 1992, and I still miss her like it was yesterday. I know I will see her in heaven one day.
Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to sing. I believe this is one of the wonderful gifts God has blessed me with. He has also blessed me with the gift of writing. Although I cannot take the credit for it. I give all the glory to my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.
As I got older, I strayed away from the Lord, sort of like the prodigal son, I guess. I pretty much lived for the world instead of for God. I started out singing country music, and was in a few of the more popular country bands, playing all the local bars around the Carolinas.
After seeing a Gaither video one night, I was in tears and realized there was something missing in my life. That something was my Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. I really missed the peace and contentment I had when I used to live for Him. Nothing is worse than a back sliden Christian. An evangelist named Bob Harrington preached at a revival at Calvary Baptist Church one night, which is now my home church. I rededicated my life back to the Lord and asked for His forgiveness, and to please change my life and help me live for Him. I realized God never left me. I was the one who left Him. He has given me so many blessings since that night, and one of them is our gospel ministry, Journey 'N Faith. When we had our first booking at a local restaurant, we did not have a name. So I asked God to help me fast! He gave me the name "Journey 'N Faith," with an apostrophe 'N, because He said we were on a journey in this life, and it is going to take a lot of Faith to stay on this journey. How right and true God is!
We all have to go through many trials, and tribulations. It's so much easier when you know the Lord. If you will take your eyes off man, and keep them on God, He will make a way.
The Bible says in Psalms 118:8 "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in Man." If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, ask Him to come into your heart today, and to forgive you of your sins. Repent of them and live for Him. You will never regret it! You can only find true peace and satisfaction in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. "He loved us enough to give His only son! Could you do that? Romans 10:9 says "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
As a teenager I began to realize how much music meant to me. Thanks to a chorus teacher in high school she instilled in me a love for music. I participated in several musicals and was a member of a barbershop quartet. This made me fall in love with harmony singing. I was introduced to southern gospel music by an elderly lady in my home church at the age of 15. She put together a quartet which included me and some cousins. This is when I realized that southern gospel music would become an important part of my life.
I was born in 1953 in Asheboro, NC, but my home was actually in Snow Camp, NC. I have pretty much lived in the same location all my life. The youngest of three kids I was saved at Pleasant Hill Christian Church at the age of 14. Today I’m married to my wife of 20 years, Diane, have one son, and still live in Snow Camp.
After being a part of my first quartet I was part of my youth group at church that traveled and sang. Then a couple of friends and I formed “Friends for Christ,” a trio that sang for about 8 yrs. After this I was part of a new group, “Promise” that traveled and sang in NC, SC, TN, WV and places in between. After about 7 years Promise disbanded and I held several positions with numerous groups.
I was for the most part out of the singing business between 2002-2007. Although I was choir director at my church and did some solo work it just didn’t fill the void of not singing in a group. Finally in Sept. 2007 I began praying that if God wanted me to sing He would have to point me to a group. I truly believe He pointed me to “Journey N Faith”
I believe that it is an honor to represent my Lord and Savior and to spread His word in song, and I’m truly thankful to have this opportunity with “Journey N Faith.”
